HOLOTYPE. China. Xishuangbanna : female [ China / Yunnan /Xishuanbanna/ 870 m /30 June 1958/S Wang] (IZAS).

Description. Female: length: 5.5 mm (n = 1). width: 2.9 mm (n = 1). Head: mediumsized; punctures small with short, narrow, elongate, testaceous scales; anteroventral macula of short, broad, recumbent, white scales; derm fuscopiceous; frons, 0.24 as wide as head across eyes, vestiture of narrow, elongate, testaceous scales. Rostrum: length: 4.0 mm (n = 1); 0.73 as long as body; dorsally subparallel from base to antennal insertion, then parallel to apex, broadly compressed laterally; 2 lateral carinae on each side of smooth median, flanked by deep oval punctures, from frons to distad of antennal insertion; slightly arced from frons to antennal insertion then almost straight to apex; scrobe ventral; scape inserted in basal half. Antennae: length: scape 1.2 mm; funiculus: segment one 0.4 mm, two 0.25 mm, three 0.2 mm, four 0.2 mm, five 0.2 mm, six 0.15 mm, seven 0.175 mm, club 0.6 mm, funicle 1.5 mm (n = 1); scape 0.8 as long as funicle; derm fuscopiceous; clothed with narrow, elongate, white scales, with suberect, fuscous scales; club elongate, acuminate, as long as funicular segments 5–7. Thorax: length: 1.6 mm (n = 1). width: 2.1 mm (n = 1); 0.76 as long as broad; dorsally, disc margins subparallel, evenly rounded to constriction, flat in lateral view, punctures small, with macula of clavate, fulvous scales forming ‘‘W,’’ other scales fuscous with few white mixed; pleuron clothed, with short, clavate, fulvous and a few white scales; base sinuate; mesosternal intercoxal process prominent clothed with white scales; scutellum small, impressed, longer than broad with whitish scales; mesepimeron, mesepisternum, metepisternum and lateral metasternum clothed with short, clavate, fulvous scales, with white scales medially; procoxae clothed with white scales. Elytra: length 3.1 mm (n = 1); striae narrow, with short, clavate, white scales; humeri prominent, rounded; laterally disc flat; intervals broad, flat, clothed with clavate, fulvous scales; crosshatched setae absent. Legs: length of hind femur 2.80 mm (n = 1), tooth medium­sized, wedge shaped; pro­ and mesofemoral teeth small; femoral clava large, fuscopiceous, base narrow, ferruginotestaceous; all femora clothed with narrow, elongate, white scales; tibiae straight, ferrugino­testaceous, pro­, meso­ and metauncus small. Abdomen: sternite 2 longer than 1 behind coxal cavity; 2 ascending to 3; sternites 3 and 4 equal in length as long as 5 combined; sternite 5 roundly truncate; vestiture of all sternites of clavate, white with a few fulvous scales laterally. Pygidium : small. Genitalia: not dissected.

Remarks. Distinguished from the species in this group by laterally compressed rostrum.

Etymology. The specific epithet ‘‘ coarcto ’’ is formed from the Latin adjective ‘‘ coarctatus ’’ meaning, ‘‘compressed,’’ and ‘‘ rostrus ’’ is from the Latin noun ‘‘rostrum’’ meaning ‘‘snout.’’
