HOLOTYPE. China. Suisapa : one male [W. Hapeh (Hebei)/Suisapa/Lichuan Dist./ 1,000 m / 25 July 1948 / L. Gressit] ( CASC).

Description. Male: length: 3.5 mm (n = 1); width: 1.6 mm (n = 1). Head: mediumsized; punctures small with narrow, elongate, dirty white scales; ventromedian macula of small, clavate, white scales; frons narrow, 0.12 as broad as head across eyes with interocular fovea. Rostrum: length: 1.6 mm (n = 1); 0.46 as long as body; sub­cylindrical, subquadrate, narrowed in apical third; straight to antennal insertion, feebly arced to apex; punctures deep, oval, from frons to antennal insertion, dorsal ridge smooth; derm piceous from base to antennal insertion, becoming fuscous to apex; scrobe ventral; scape inserted in apical half. Antennae: length of scape 0.8, funiculus: segment one 0.25 mm, two 0.1 mm, three 0.15 mm, four 0.15 mm, five 0.08 mm, six 0.08 mm, seven 0.08 mm, club 0.45 mm, funicle 0.9 mm (n = 1); scape 0.6 as long as funicle; derm fuscorufous; clothed with suberect cinerous setae; club oval, elongate, as long as funicular segments 4–7; segment 1 of club longer than funicular segment 7. Thorax: length 0.8 mm (n = 1); width 1.2 mm (n = 1); 0.67 as long as broad; disc margins subparallel, base 0.75 as broad as base of elytra, median carina, vestiture of narrow, elongate, white scales; pleuron and anteroventral face clothed with narrow, elongate, white scales; mesosternal intercoxal process prominent, clothed with white scales; scutellum mediumsized, longer than broad, clothed with white scales; mesepimeron, mesepisternum, metepisternum and metasternum clothed with narrow, elongate, white scales, with truncate apices. Elytra: length 2.5 mm (n = 1); striae broad, deep with narrow, elongate, white scales; humeri prominent; intervals narrow, flat, clothed with narrow, elongate, white scales, with truncate apices; midway with feeble fascia of narrow, elongate, testaceous scales; crosshatched setae short, not prominent; strongly convex in lateral view toward distal two thirds. Legs: length of hind femur 1.5 mm (n = 1), all femora with small teeth; pro­ and mesofemur longer than hind femur; hind femur reaching abdominal apex; all femora clothed with narrow, elongate, white scales; tibiae straight, prouncus large, mesouncus medium and metauncus small. Abdomen: sternite 1 longer than 2 behind coxal cavity; 2 ascending to 3; sternite 3 longer than 4, combined as long as 5; sternite 5 apex emarginate with shallow ‘‘V’’ of fine seta­like scales and lateral tufts of long seta­like scales; all sternites with narrow, elongate, white scales. Pygidium : small, clothed with short, elongate, white seta­like scales. Genitalia: not dissected.

Remarks. Similar to C. artusfrons n. sp. from which it can be separated by shorter rostrum, narrower frons, convex elytra, and scale color.

Etymology. Named in honor of the senior author’s good friend Monroe D. Polk.
