Diagnosis. A species of the subgenus Pterygotrigla with black pigment on the nasal openings (nares), pectoral fin long (41–51% SL) with 12+3 rays, nape, prepectoral area, breast, and interpelvic area lacking scales. No indication of hyperostosis.

Distribution. Australia, Queensland, around Saumarez Reef and Marion Plateau.
