Characidae ( Characinae )
Charax aff. pauciradiatus Günther, 1864 : yaya-bós, yaya-né-kasé (C); onokogolo (K); mokoloimë, elemakëlë (Wa); asina siba (B, Nd); adjeni, stonweti fisi (S); cacunda (Br).
Charax niger Lucena, 1989 : yaya-bós, yaya-né-kasé (C); pilasingway (Wi); cacunda (Br).
Note: In East French Guiana, Charax niger replaces its sister species, Charax aff. pauciradiatus . The two species are difficult to tell apart.
Cynopotamus essequibensis Eigenmann, 1912 : yaya-bós, yaya-né-kasé (C); onokogolo (K); mokoloimë (Wa); asina siba (B); adjeni, stonweti fisi (S); cynopotamus de l’Essequibo (F); cacunda (Br).
Note: Cynopotamus essequibensis can easily be mistaken for either Charax species.
Galeocharax aff. gulo (Cope, 1970) : pilayowa (Wi);
cacunda, dentusca, saicanga, madalena (Br).
Phenacogaster wayana Le Bail & Lucena, 2010:
amatkowale, mulok (Wa); phenacogaster des Wayana (F); glass tetra (E).
Note: Phanacogaster wayana looks very similar to its sister species P. wayampi (phenacogaster des Wayãpi), which replaces it in the Oyapock. The two species can be easily mistaken for one another.
