Remarks:

Rawlings et al. (2008) identified a sister-group relationship of this monotypic genus with Leiopython , which they also considered monotypic. They proposed synonymy of Leiopython with Bothrochilus , with the latter being the senior synonym. Also see comments on Leiopython .
