AEOLOTHRIPIDAE Uzel View in CoL View at ENA
Aeolothripidae is the second largest family of suborder Terebrantia , with 24 genera and more than 214 species (ThripsWiki 2023), but only one genus and four species have been recorded from Saudi Arabia: Aeolothrips . asirensis zur Strassen, A. deserticola Priesner , A. tenuicornis Bagnall , and A. sobrinus zur Strassen (zur Strassen 1979). In a list of localities for A. brevicornis zur Strassen (1990) included Saudi Arabia. However, he provided no evidence for this record, and there are no specimens of this species from this country in the Senckenberg Museum. Two species, A. asirensis , and A. sobrinus , were described from Asir province. In this study a further two Aeolothrips species and four species in the genera Franklinothrips , Indothrips and Rhipidothrips are newly recorded from this country.
