This Neotropical genus is related to grass living Chirothrips group, and comprises 16 species worldwide ( Nakahara & Foottit 2012), and is here new to Saudi Arabia. Arorathrips can be distinguished from related genera by: antennal segment I broad, more than 2.5 times wider than base of segment II; segment II strongly produced laterally, usually with apical sense cone; pronotum strongly trapezoidal; mesosternal furcal invaginations separated.
