Distribution: SW China, N Burma, Thailand and N Vietnam.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc) as Soriculus parca .
Discussion: Formerly included in smithii , but retained as a separate species by Hoffmann (1985 b), with lowei and furva as tentative subspecies.
