Type Locality: Kenya, "Voi, British East Africa ".
Vernacular Names: Voi Shrew.
Synonyms: Crocidura aridula Thomas and Hinton 1923 ; Crocidura butleri Thomas 1911 ; Crocidura percivali Dollman 1915 .
Distribution: Sudan savanna from Kenya and Somalia to Ethiopia and Sudan; single records from Nigeria and Mali.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Included in subgenus Afrosorex by Hutterer (1986 a). New material from Kenya suggest a strong relation, if not conspecificy, with C. fischeri (Oguge and Hutterer, in prep.). For synonyms see Hutterer (1986a).
