13. Euxoa campestris (Grote)

Identification: Forewing length 14.0–16.0 mm. Forewing ground color is reddish brown in basal and outer third and gray medially. Basal, antemedial, and postmedial lines are black; orbicular, claviform, and reniform spots are outlined in black. Hindwing is pale gray, wing veins gray, and a faint gray discal spot.

Flight period: Collected in early August.

Collected localities: North Carolina: Haywood Co., Purchase Knob. (1 specimen) MAP 9. Collecting localities of Euxoa campestris .

Elevation range: 4924 ft. (1501 m)

General distribution: In North America from Newfoundland to Alaska, south to New England and southern Canada from southern Quebec west to British Columbia. In the West it is distributed southward in the Rocky Mountains to southern New Mexico, eastcentral Arizona, and central Utah. In the East it occurs in the Appalachians in eastern Kentucky ( Lafontaine 1987) and in the Park in western North Carolina.

Larval hosts: Unknown ( Lafontaine 1987).
