Current name: Cystopteris fragilis (L.) Bernh. ( Dryopteridaceae ).

Note: In accordance with Art. 23.8, Ex. 19 of the Code, P. filix-fragile is to be treated as P. fragile . Proctor (Ferns Jamaica: 410. 1985) erroneously believed Copeland’s type (as “1251.44”) to have been a post-1753 addition to the collection and designated a cited Plukenet plate as type in its place. However, the type carries both the epithet and “44” written by Linnaeus, along with an Amman label suggesting it was in Linnaeus’ possession long before 1753.
