Distribution. Brazil (Mato Grosso) (Borowiec & Świętojańska, 2024, specified here, see Remarks). New species to Ceará State, Brazil.

New record. BRAZIL: Ceará, Serra do Baturité , Guaramiranga, RPPN Sítio Lagoa, 30.XI–07.XII.2021, M. L. Monné leg., 1 spec. ( MNRJ: MNRJ-ENT7 45745) .

Species diagnosis. This species is recognized by the long antennae, impressed clypeus, explanate margin of elytra third antennal segment only slightly shorter than the second, and elytra with shallow postscutellar impressions (Świetojańska & Borowiec 1995).

Remarks. The species was described based on material from the Carnegie Museum of Natural History (Pittsburg, U.S.A.) and ‘Chapada , Brazil [Prov. Matto Grosso]’ was mentioned as the type locality without further details (Świetojańska & Borowiec 1995). The material was collected by Herbert H. Smith (1851–1919) during his explorations of interior Brazil. In the period 1882–1886 he spent considerable time at Chapada and made extensive collections of natural history objects. The place refers to Sant’Ana da Chapada, nowadays the municipality of Chapada dos Guimarães , and most of the material was collected in the vicinity of the place ( Allen 1891, Calvert 1909).
