Diagnosis
For a detailed genus concept and description see den Heyer (1978b, 1979a,b). den Heyer and Sergeyenko (2009) designated a neotype for the type species and thereby established the species as well as the genus concept of these taxa. This genus can be defined as follows. Idiosoma dorsally covered with one or two shields; females sometimes devoid of shields. Prodorsal shield when present smooth or striate, never reticulate. Palps five-segmented, telofemur, genu and tibiotarsus armed with elongate apophyses or spine-like setae on inner margin. Palp telofemur usually with dorsal seta simple. Tarsi I–IV long, slender, attenuate and with small lobes terminally. The genus Cunaxa comprises 47 species worldwide. Only three Cunaxa species are reported from Iran.
