China, Hong Kong, Taiwan; Japan- Ryukyu Islands; India; Indochina, Myanmar, Thailand; Malesia. In Myanmar, found in Bago, Mandalay, Magway, and Yangon.
Use.
Root: Alterative (restores to normal health).
Note.
Reported medicinal uses for this species include for earache, eye problems, blindness, ophthalmia, fever, inflammation, dysentery, splenitis, otisis, pimpes, sores, stings, and gingivitis ( Duke 2009).
