BEANA Walker 1862 View in CoL ,
Species in the genus are distributed from Indian Subregion to Papua New Guinea and Philippines. The typespecies B. terminigera is known from India to Borneo and Philippines. The other species in the genus are more localized; B. inconspicua (Bethune-Baker) in Papua New Guinea, B. opala (Pagenstecher) , also in Papua New Guinea, B. umbrina (Hampson) , in Philippines and B. nitida (Tams) from Nepal to Thailand.Earlier the genus was consider to be the sister group to Nolinae (Holloway, 1998) , but has since been transferred as own subfamily Beaninae close to Eligminae .
Here we describe two new species as part of the genus Beana based on genitalia morphology and molecular aspects. Also Beana nitida ( Tams, 1924) is transferred to a new genus Beanoides potentially close to Gariga + Ariolica in Chloephorinae . The genus Beana thus consists of 6 species and Beanoides is monotypic.
