Idiopteryx bivia ( Meyrick, 1918) View in CoL
( Figs. 7B View FIGURE 7 , 8E, F, H View FIGURE 8 )
Dragmatucha bivia Meyrick, 1918: 25 View in CoL . TL: Drummond [KwaZulu-Natal], South Africa. [TMSA].
Idiopteryx bivia View in CoL ; Meyrick 1925: 227; Janse 1954: 379.
Adult. ( Fig. 7B View FIGURE 7 ). Wingspan 22 – 23 mm.
Diagnosis. The species is similar to I. discopuncta by having a similar orange-white antemedian and subterminal band across the wing, but it can be distinguished by the costa being nearly straight beyond the antemedian band, the subterminal band oblique and nearly straight, whereas in the latter the costa is concave medially and the subterminal band narrower, bent nearly in S-shape, broadest near costa. The forewing venation is illustrated in Fig. 8H View FIGURE 8 ; see also Janse (1954, Pl. 163, Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 ). Female unknown.
Male genitalia ( Figs. 8E, F View FIGURE 8 ). Similar to those of I. discopuncta , but can be distinguished by the valva with less concave costal margin and more narrowly produced apically. See also Janse (1954, Pl. 165, Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 - line drawing).
Female genitalia. See Janse (1954, Pl. 165, Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 - signum).
Material examined. Type no. 537, ♂ (holotype), [ South Africa], KwaZulu-Natal, Drummond, 7 xii. [19]15, A.J.T. Janse, much damaged. Five additional specimens in the TMSA, including 2♂ (Yellowood, 5-7 i 1965, L. Vári, gen. slide no. 5430), gen. slide no. CIS-7181/Park.
Distribution. South Africa (KwaZulu-Natal) ( Meyrick 1918).
Remarks. The species was described based on a single male.
