Genus Frisilia Walker, 1864 View in CoL

Type species: Frisilia nesciatella Walker, 1864 .

The genus Frisilia Walker is characterized by the atypical labial palpus with a long, strongly angled 2 nd segment and a minute 3 rd segment in the male. The venation is much variable with R 5 present or absent in the forewing and M 3 and CuA 1 stalked or coincident in the hindwing. The genus comprises about 30 species worldwide. Of them, two species are known in the Afrotropical Region; Frisilia compsostoma Meyrick, 1921 from Zimbabwe and F. triturata Meyrick, 1914 from Malawi. The holotype of F. triturata is deposited in the NHMUK.
