Endemic to the Atlantic Forest ( Sobral et al. 2009) from the northeast to southern regions of Brazil ( Proença & Sobral 2006, Govaerts et al. 2010).

Trees to 6 m tall, leaves 5.0–9.5 × 3.0– 4.5 cm, midvein flat or raised on adaxial lamina surface, raceme with the main axis reduced, bracts and bracteoles lanceolate, hypanthium glabrous, fruit subglobose.
