Material examined. Kenya, 1 female, Mwea , December 28, 1999 (I. Sarr) ; 1 female, Kiamuguongo , Central Province, altitude 1500 m, July 12, 2004 ; 1 female, Wyaundo Island , Nyanza Province, altitude 1300 m, December 7, 2005 ( El-Banhawy ) .
Female: Dorsal shield 354 long, 184 wide, with antero-lateral striations and six pairs of pores. Measurements of dorsal setae: j1 28, j3 52, j4, j5, j6, J2, J5 9, z2, z4 14, z5, Z1 9, Z4 70, Z5 105, s4 69, S2 16, S4, 9, S5 7, r3 22, R1 12, JV5 60. Setae Z 4, Z5 serrated, remaining setae smooth. Peritrematal shield fused anteriorly with dorsal shield, reaching level of j1. Sternal shield smooth, distances between St I-St III 60 and St II-St II 64 , St IV on platelets. Genital shield 80 wide. Ventri-anal shield pentagonal, 122 long, 74 wide, with a pair of elliptical pre-anal pores close to each other, and three pairs of pre-anal setae (JV1, JV2, ZV2). Two pairs of metapodal platelets, two pairs of sigillar sclerites and four pairs of setae surrounding ventri-anal shield. Fixed digit of chelicera with nine teeth, movable digit with three teeth. Spermatheca calyx short cup-shaped, 5 long, 5 wide, atrium nodular, 2.3 long, major duct narrow. Macrosetae, Sge II 28 , Sge III 32 , Sge IV 58 , Sti IV 41 , St IV 58 . Chaetotaxy : genu II 2 , 2 / 0, 2/ 0, 1, genu III 1 , 2 /1, 2/0, 1.
Remarks. The female holotype was collected from Beit-Dagan, Israel, September 21, 1961, Amitai (Athias- Henriot, 1962). A male was collected from Ghana, Legon University, Accra, November 8, 1989, J. S. Yanenik ( Zannou et al., 2007). Amblyseius swirskii has a worldwide distribution, and was recorded from the Mediterranean region and ten African countries.
