Diagnosis. Dorsal shield rotund, strongly sclerotised; ventral shield sclerotised, reticulated, usually much wider than long, some dorsal setae markedly longer than others; fixed digit of chelicera with from few to many teeth, commonly less than seven teeth; legs I–III without macrosetae, leg IV usually with three short macrosetae, male with the spermatophoral process of the heel-and-toe variant or L-shaped; spermatheca usually with the atrium elongate, some with atrium bifurcate or vacuolated, calyx almost without exception saccular ( Chant & McMurtry, 2004).
