Type species: Typhlodromus (Amblyseius) orientalis Narayanan, Khaur & Ghai, 1960
Diagnosis. Setae J2, S2 and S4 absent, seta S5 present/absent; setae j3, Z4, Z5, s4 elongate, greatly thickened, strongly serrated, arising from tubercles; setae Z4 and Z5, in close proximity; dorsal shield smooth or lightly sculptured, with lateral margin strongly incised at level of seta s4, with posterior margin rounded; sternal shield with posterior margin straight or slightly concave; female ventri-anal shield much longer than wide with pre-anal setae vertically aligned along lateral margin; fixed digit of chelicera with 7–11 teeth; peritreme extending to level of setae j1; spermatheca with calyx cup or dish shaped; Ge I and II with macrosetae, leg IV with 3–5 strong macrosetae ( Chant & McMurtry, 2003b).
