Type species: Asperoseius africanus Chant, 1957
Diagnosis. Setae J2, S4, S5 and ZV3 absent. Dorsal shield rotund, without lateral notch or incision, many dorsal setae short, subequal, strongly serrated, flattened. Female ventri-anal shield much longer than wide, without marked waist, with pre-anal setae, minute, in normal positions. Chelicerae with few teeth, legs I–III with many setae short and thickened; leg IV with 2–3 stout, elongate, flattened macrosetae ( Chant & McMurtry, 2003b).
