Typhlodromus nerminae El-Banhawy & Knapp n. sp
( Fig. 108 View FIGURE 108 )
Material examined. Holotype female, Kenya, Mt. Kenya, altitude 3157 m, July 15, 2004 (El-Banhawy).
Female: Dorsal shield imbricate, 380 long, 195 wide, with five pairs of pores. Measurements of dorsal setae: j1 21, j3 40, j4, j5 28, j6 37, J2 39, J5 12, z2 25, z3 46, z4 41, z5 30, Z4 58, Z5 70, s4, s6, S2 55, S4 57, r3, R1 38, JV5 50. Dorsal setae serrated, j1, J5, z5 smooth. Peritrematal shield fused anteriorly with dorsal shield, reaching level of j1. Sternal shield reticulated, distances between St I-St III 70 , St II-St II 50 , St IV on platelets. Genital shield 60 wide. Ventri-anal shield pentagonal, lateral margins concave, with a pair of very small round pre-anal pores and four pairs of pre-anal setae (JV1, JV2, JV3, ZV2). A pair of metapodal platelets, two pairs of sigillar sclerites, and four pairs of setae surrounding ventri-anal shield. Chelicera indiscernible. Spermatheca calyx saccular, 14 long, 5 wide at mid-point, flared distally, atrium small. Macrosetae sharp pointed, Sge IV 55 , Sti IV 28 , St IV 75 . Chaetotaxy: genu II 2 , 2 / 0, 2/0, 1, genu III 1 , 2 /1, 2/0, 1.
Remarks. This species is similar to T. neomagdalenae Zannou, Moraes & Oliveira , however the difference in the lengths of most dorsal setae and macrosetae and the wide apart and very small pre-anal pores separate these species. The male is unknown.
