Typhlodromus leilaseius El-Banhawy & Knapp n. sp.
( Fig. 93 View FIGURE 93 )
Material examined. Holotype female, Thompson Falls (Nyahururu), altitude 2500 m, May 6, 2006 (El-Banhawy).
Female: Dorsal shield reticulated, 270 long, 160 wide, with five pairs of pores. Measurements of dorsal setae: j1, j3 12, j4 14, j5 26, j6 20, J2 24, J5 9, z2, z3 40, z4 24, z5 18, Z4 37, Z5 48, s4 24, s6 28, S2 32, S4 28, S5 20, r3, R1 20, JV5 40. Setae Z 4, Z5 serrated, Z5 blunt, remaining setae smooth. Peritrematal shield fused anteriorly with dorsal shield, reaching levei j1. Sternal shield, distances between St I-St III 60 , St II-St II 50 , St III off shield, St IV on platelets. Genital shield 62 wide. Ventri-anal shield 110 long, 74 wide, with a pair of round pre-anal pores close to each other, and four pairs of pre-anal setae (JV1, JV2, JV3, ZV2). Two pairs of metapodal platelets, two pairs of sigillar sclerites and four pairs of setae surrounding ventri-anal shield. Fixed digit of chelicera with four teeth, movable digit with three teeth. Spermatheca calyx saccular, 14 long, 7 wide, atrium small, 3 long. Macroseta knobbed, St IV 40 . Chaetotaxy : genu II 2 , 2 / 0, 2/1, 1, genu III 1 , 2 /1, 2/0, 1.
Remarks. This species is similar to T. wrenschae Ueckermann & Loots in the general morphological characters. The number of setae on genu II (8), position of ventri-anal pores, length of Z4, and presence of St III free on integument, distiguish it from T. wrenschae . The male is unknown.
