Type species: Seius degenerans Berlese, 1889 .
Diagnosis. Fixed digit of chelicera with four small teeth clustered midway along digit, and two teeth located near the apex of the digit. Movable digit unidentate. Deutosternal groove 7–8 µm wide; dorsal setae minute, ventri-anal shield separated into ventral and anal shield in both sexes; peritreme short, not extending beyond level of seta z4. Spermatheca with atrium swollen, calyx elongate, slender, flared distally. Body shields strongly sclerotised, dark brown; sternal shield with posterior forked projection; lateral integument sclerotised ( Chant & McMurtry, 2005a).
