The diagnostic character of Syneuodynerus in Giordani Soika’s (1962 [1961]) Pseudepipona key is spiniform teeth on the propodeum behind the metanotum. In this respect, the Australian species placed in Syneuodynerus form a continuum with Stenodyneriellus ; the latter has species with propodeal teeth beside the metanotum, and the dorsal surface of the propodeum variably developed. Thus, Borsato (2003: 551) stated of Syneuodyneru aurantiacus Giordani Soika 1993b : “The shape of the upper carinae of the propodeum and of the scutellum would induce to place this taxon in the genus Stenodyneriellus . Only with a revision of the Australian species it will be possible to attribute correctly the taxa, characterized by upper carinae of the propodeum developed and ending with two teeth placed behind the postscutellum, to the genus Stenodyneriellus .”
In the keys by Gusenleitner (2000), Ebrahimi & Carpenter (2008) and Carpenter et al. (2010) the Australian species do not run to Syneuodynerus , because they lack a transparent or translucent apical border on the first metasomal tergum. In the key of Giordani Soika (1978) they fail because the metanotum is not regularly convex. The Australian species do not really key out in these works. The similarities to species of Stenodyneriellus lead to reassignment of the species placed in Syneuodynerus to Stenodyneriellus .
