Lasiodera ruficollis ( Gorham, 1877) ( Figs. 22, 26 View Figs , 36 View Figs , 45 View Figs )

Pelonium ruficolle Gorham, 1877: 419 . Type locality: Brazil, Rio de Janeiro (Fry). There is indication that Gorham had more than one specimen available when he made his description, but he did not specify in his description which specimen should be the name bearer of this species.

19) Female reproductive organs.

24) L. rufipes ; 25) L. trifasciata ; 26) L. ruficollis .

30) L. rufipes , gular region.

Therefore, I invoke Recommendation 73F of the ICZN (1999) and designate as lectotype a female labeled “ Rio de Janeiro, Parana, Fry ” and deposited in the BMNH . A paralectotype is labeled “ Parana ” and deposited in the MNHN .

Enoplium ornatum Klug 1842: 363 . New synonymy.

Pelonium ruficolle (Gorham) : Gahan 1910: 75.

Lasiodera malleri Pic 1933: 292 . New synonymy.

Lasiodera ruficollis (Gorham) : Blackwelder 1945: 389; Corporaal 1950: 278.

Diagnosis. Specimens of this species are similar superficially to those of L. rufipes , from which they differ by having a red forebody.

Redescription. Size: Length 10.0 mm; width 3.0 mm. Form: As in Fig. 45 View Figs . Color: Mostly reddish; antennal capitulum black; elytra bicolored, mostly black, each elytron with 4 yellow markings; yellow marking near humeral angle punctiform. Head: Funicular antennomeres filiform, antennomeres 9 and 10 triangular, antennomere 11 sublunulate ( Fig. 22 View Figs ); eyes very small, much narrower than width of frons (EW/FW = 44/73); cranium finely punctate. Thorax: Pronotum ( Fig. 26 View Figs ) quadrate (PW/ PL = 91/91), lateral margins with a tubercle, elytral disc without asetiferous punctures; EL/EW = 200/50); protibial anterior margin spinous. Abdomen: Pygidium scutiform; aedeagus as in Fig. 36 View Figs ; phallobasic rod bipartite.

Variation. Size: Length 7.3–10.5 mm; width 2.5–3.5 mm. Other than body size, the available specimens are quite homogeneous.

Distribution. Other than the types, I examined seven specimens from: BRAZIL: Estado do Minas Gerais, Passa Quatro, Fazenda Dos Campos, 1914, J. F. Zikán; Estado do Santa Catarina, Nova Teutonia, XI-1974, 300- 500 m, F. Plaumann; idem, 27- XI-1960, Fritz Plaumann; Estado do S~ ao Paulo, San Bocaina, S. Jose Barreiro, XI-1969, Alvarenga & Seabra. ( Fig. 48 View Fig ). Specimens are deposited in BMNH, FMNH, MNHN, and WOPC.
