Diversity and distribution. Strongylophthalmyia currently contains 92 species distributed in the Australasian, Nearctic, Oriental and Palearctic regions. Eighteen species were previously reported from China ( Yang & Wang 1998; Evenhuis 2016; Qilemoge et al. 2021; Zhou et al. 2023).
