In the protologue of Luehea rosea Ducke (1922) cited multiple collections by Ducke. Ducke 17230, Ducke 15759, Ducke 12130, Ducke 10982 and Ducke 14867, all in herbarium MG. However, in herbarium MG there is only the specimen Ducke 17230 (A. Gil, pers. comm.). We found many duplicates in various herbaria. For this reason, in accordance with Art. 9.3 of the ICN, we designate here, among the syntypes, the specimen Ducke 17230 (MG017230) as the lectotype of L. rosea . Furthermore, by studying these materials we also discovered that the specimen Ducke 15759 belongs to another species, Lueheopsis duckeana , and for this reason, it is not considered a syntype remaining of the name L. rosea .
