Lectotype (designated here):— BOLIVIA. Santa Cruz: Vallegrande, 16 March 1920, Steinbach 3748 ( LIL! [ LIL001648 ] ; holotype B destroyed, photo in F! [negative number 9246] ).
Burret (1926) cited the lost specimen Steinbach 3748 in B as the type of Luehea steinbachii , remaining only the photo preserved in F. Analysing the image in F, we saw that the label didn’t belong to B, but to the herbarium LIL, located in Argentina. Searching in herbarium LIL and in other herbaria where the Steinbach collections are deposited, we found one duplicate of Steinbach 3748 in LIL ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ), compatible with the protologue. For these reasons, in accordance with Art. 9.3 of the ICN, we designate the specimen at LIL as the lectotype of L. steinbachii .
