Description of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum YG 19

Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-flagellated, ovoid, rod-shaped bacterium (0.5-0.7 μm wide, 1.1-1.2 μm long). Colonies   GoogleMaps grown on MRS agar are white, circular, convex, and glistening. Oxidase   GoogleMaps activity is negative. In the API 20NE test, cells are positive for nitrate reduction; aesculin hydrolysis; β -galactosidase activity, but negative for indole production; glucose fermentation; gelatin hydrolysis; activity of arginine dihydrolase and urease; and assimilation of D- glucose, L- arabinose, D- mannose, D- mannitol, N -acetyl-glucosamine, D- maltose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid. Strain YG19 (= NIBRBAC000503327) was isolated from a kimchi sample collected from Yeosu, Republic of Korea (34°44 ʹ 26.0 ʺ N, 127°43 ʹ 58.0 ʺ E).

Streptobacterium plantarum was reclassified as Lactiplantibacillus plantarum ( Zheng et al., 2020) .
