Description of Leuconostoc gelidum subsp. gasicomitatum View in CoL AM13

Gram-stain-positive, anaerobic, non-flagellated, coccoid, ovoid-shaped bacterium (0.9-1.2 μm diameter). Colonies grown on MRS agar are white, circular, and convex. Oxidase activity is negative. In the API 20NE test, cells are negative for nitrate reduction; indole production; glucose fermentation; hydrolysis of aesculin and gelatin; activity of arginine dihydrolase, urease, and β -galactosidase; and assimilation of D- glucose, L- arabinose, D- mannose, D- mannitol, N -acetyl-glucosamine, D- maltose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid. Strain AM13 (= NIBRBAC000503399) was isolated from a kimchi sample collected from Anseong   GoogleMaps , Republic of Korea (37°00 ʹ 39.2 ʺ N, 127°15 ʹ 50.8 ʺ E).
