Distribution. Nearctic, coastal species. Canada: NF, NB, NS, France (St. Pierre et Miquelon). USA (NCR): NH (NSR).
Collection and Habitat data. In NH found in beach wrack from April to June. In Canada it occurs on sea beaches, barrier beaches, and coastal dunes near mean high tide mark (upper margin of littoral zone), in/under decaying sea wrack, seaweed, and other beach debris on sand and gravel; often occurring with Aleochara litoralis (Majka and Klimaszewski 2008, Klimaszewski et al. 2018).
Material. USA, New Hampshire, Rockingham Co.: Hampton , 14.IV.1964, F.W. Kruger, 1 female . Seabrook foredunes, 31.V.1989, D.S. Chandler, wrack, 1 male, 2 females ; 14.VI.1989, D.S. Chandler, wrack, 2 females , 1 sex? Newcastle Common , 12.V.1982, D.S. Chandler, sift beach wrack, 2 females .
Comments. Subgeneric placement of this species is not clear.
