Diagnostic characters. Stems clustered, erect, unarmed, ca 1.5 m long and ca 1 cm in diameter; covered by black fibre of leaf sheath. Leaf palmate, alternate, 30–32 cm long; petiole ca 16 cm long; leaflets 6 or 7 in number, 15– 18 cm long, connate at the base up to 1–1.2 cm, free parts oblong to linear, ensiform, and veins 2 or 3.
Uses. Ornamental.
