Diagnosis ( Figs 20View FIGURES 19–21, 33View FIGURES 32–34, 112View FIGURES 111–113). Amblycerus serieguttatus  is characterized by the following combination of characters: eyes distant from each other anteriorly ( Fig. 33View FIGURES 32–34), ocular index: 4.0; elytra ( Fig. 20View FIGURES 19–21) with tufts of dense setae on interestriae 3, 5, 7, 9; median lobe of male genitalia about 3.6 times as long as its greatest width at apical region ( Fig. 112View FIGURES 111–113); internal sac with a pair of hollow, subcircular, tuberculate sclerites on the apical region ( Fig. 112View FIGURES 111–113); median region of internal sac with a pair of hand-shaped sclerites. Amblycerus serieguttatus  is similar externally to A. galapagoensis  , from which it differs in lateral carina almost reaching the posterior margin of pronotum (reaching the posterior margin of pronotum in A. galapagoensis  ) and scutellum tridentate, median tooth longer than the lateral ones (scutellum unidentate in A. galapagoensis  ). Other similar species is A. luteonotatus  , belonging to the luteonotatus  group ( Ribeiro-Costa 1995), but in A. serieguttatus  , the prosternal process, although expanded beyond the anterior coxae as in A. luteonotatus  , does not reach the median legs, whereas it does reach the median legs in A. luteonotatus  .

Distribution ( Fig. 122View FIGURE 122). United States (new country record), Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua (new country record), Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago (new country record), and Argentina (new country record).
