Type citation in protologue:—“South Tinnevelly ghats (above Calcad) 3000–4000 feet elevation”.
Lectotype (designated here):— INDIA. Tamil Nadu: Tinnevelly Ghats (Tirunelveli Ghats), Calcad hills (Kalakad hills), 1870, R.H. Beddome s.n. ( MH00237874 !; isolectotypes CAL0000015530!, MH00237881 !).

Notes:— Eight specimens were traced for the name Eugenia floccosa Bedd. ( BM 011025648,BM011025649, BM011025650,BM011025651, CAL0000015530, K000821510, MH 00237874 and MH 00237881). The specimen MH 00237874 ( Figure 1 View FIGURE 1 ) is selected here as the lectotype because it contains annotation of the year of collection, the name of taxon and locality in Beddome’s hand writing, better preserved than other specimens and also the illustration in the protologue is based on it.
