Distribution. United States: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina.
Notes. This is a poorly known species in the southeastern states. With its red and black coloration it is sometimes misidentified as Drapetes bicolor (Laporte de Castelnau) . Drapetes rubricollis has the head black and the body is smaller and more evenly oval, while D. bicolor has strong blue reflections on the elytra, the head is concolorous with the pronotum, and it is known authoritatively from Cuba, Hispaniola, and The Bahamas (Andros I.).
