Annual plants or subshrubs. Leaves alternate, fleshy. Flowers bisexual or pistillate, in 3-27-flowered clusters; perianth free almost to the base, all or some segments winged, membranous or coriaceous; stamens 2-5, split to the midst, unappendaged or with a small, obtuse appendage; disk with glandular lobes; stigmas 2. Nine spp., W and C Asia, N Africa. Agathophora is often considered to represent a separate genus.
