In Algeria, the genus Pellenes Simon, 1876 is known by three species, P. duriaei ( Lucas, 1846) from Oran ( Lucas 1846), P. levaillanti ( Lucas, 1846) from Mila and Oran ( Lucas 1846; Denis 1937b) and P. arciger (Walckenaer, 1837) from Algiers ( Simon 1899), but they are not all well described.
Material examined: EL ATTEUF: Palm grove of El Atteuf, pitfall traps; 1 ♀, 6.III.2015; 2 ♂, 15.III.2015; 1 ♀, 25.III.2015.
Comments: This species has affinities with Pellenes brevis (Simon, 1868) , if it is confirmed, it would be a new record for the country.
Distribution: Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Ukraine, Armenia, Iran ( World Spider Catalog 2024).
Material examined: EL ATTEUF: Palm grove of El Atteuf, pitfall traps; 1 ♀, 25.II.2015; 1 ♂, 6.III.2015 .
Comments: This species has affinities with Pellenes nigrociliatus (Simon, 1875) , if it is confirmed, it would be a new record for the country.
