Examined specimens: 5♂♂, 5♀♀, Nakagusuku , Okinawa, Japan. 19.vii.2008 (no collector) .
Diagnosis: 29.6–35.3 mm long and 9.8–11.4 mm wide in males, 34.0– 37.9 mm long and 11.6– 11.4 mm wide in females. Body elliptic, stout; median longitudinal groove of head narrow, deep, with metallic red circle ( Fig. 9D View Figure 9 ); vertex wide between eyes distinctly narrower than base; pronotal and elytral punctuation distinctly large; lateral margin of pronotum arcuate at middle, weakly sinuate at base ( Fig. 10D View Figure 10 ); first and second costae of elytra prominent at dorsoanterior portion ( Fig. 11D View Figure 11 ); prosternal anterior margin simple; prosternal process flattened or sometimes very weakly convex ( Fig. 12D View Figure 12 ); lateral margins of elytra subparallel to middle; ninth ventrite ( Fig. 14D View Figure 14 ) simple; aedeagus ( Fig. 15D View Figure 15 ) subcylindrical, weakly arcuate laterally; apical portion of median lobe exceeding parameres, broadly, bluntly pointed at apex ( Fig. 16D View Figure 16 ).
Remarks: We propose that Ch. f. alternans be resurrected to species rank.
