Vernacular Names: Nelson's Antelope Squirrel.
Synonyms: Ammospermophilus amplus Taylor 1916 .
Distribution: San Joaquin Valley (S California, USA).
Conservation: May now be restricted to southern half of its former range (Hafner, 1981). IUCN – Endangered.
Discussion: Most closely related to interpres (Hafner, 1981) . Reviewed by Best et al. (1990 d, Mammalian Species No. 367).
