15. Istrianis piskunovi View in CoL sp. nov.

Teleiodes squamodorella ( Amsel, 1935) : Piskunov 1981: 691; Lvovsky & Piskunov 1989: 553; Budashkin & Piskunov 1990: 81.

Material examined. Holotype ♂, Kupjansk, Khar'kovskaya obl., 12.viii.1976, Piskunov | ulitsa, sady, na stvole Acer | Teleiodes squamodorella Ams., Piskunov det., 1978 | Mikr. prep. № 14768 | GU 96/630, P. Huemer (ZIN- 00011). Paratype: 1♀, okr. g. Luganska, 18.viii. [19]29 (Talitskiy) (gen. prep. 92/11, O. Bidzilya) ( ZIN).

Adult ( Fig. 37 View FIGURES 22 – 42 ). Wingspan 10.8–11.3 mm. Head white to light grey, black-tipped, labial palpus white with black basal and medial rings, upper side of segment 2 off-white; scape black, other antennal segments black with white basal rings; thorax and tegulae grey, brown-tipped. Forewing covered with grey black-tipped scales, two prolonged nearly connected black subcostal streaks at 1/3 and before middle, diffuse black pattern extending from 2/3 of costa to about ¾ of dorsum, yellow sub-costal streak from base to 1/3, yellow tufts before middle under black costal streak, large black spot of irregular shape at base of cell, indistinct black dots and a few yellow scales in the end of cell, diffuse black dash in middle near dorsal margin, apex distinctly suffused with black, cilia grey, black-tipped; hindwing and cilia light grey.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 75 View FIGURES 75 – 80 ). Distal portion of tergite VIII gradually narrowed apically, apex rounded; uncus slender, tapered, about 1.5 times narrower than gnathos; gnathos distinctly longer than uncus, apex with strongly sclerotized hook; tegumen boomerang-shaped, anteromedial emargination broadly rounded, lateral lobes parallelsided; valva digitate, moderately broadened in distal half; phallus tapered distally, slightly longer than valva.

Female genitalia ( Figs 100 View FIGURES 99 – 101 , 130 View FIGURES 126 – 140 ). Segment VIII nearly as longer as broad; apophyses anteriores narrow, slightly longer than segment VIII; anterior margin with prolonged papillated lobes; posterior sclerite small, its posterior margin straight, the anterior margin with two triangular projections; anterolateral sclerites oxhorn-shaped; anterior sclerites narrow, digitate; antrum tubular, moderately broad; ductus bursae long, coiled and broadened before ovate corpus bursae; signum subhexagonal, posterior lobe with nearly straight upper margin, anterior lobe slightly broader than posterior lobe, with deep medial emargination, medial ridge strongly constricted in middle.

Diagnosis. As far as one can judge from the two available specimens I. piskunovi is nearly indistinguishable externally from I. falkovitshi , but the forewings are lighter, especially at base; moreover I. falkovitshi is characterized by the presence of brown scales on hindwing that are absent in I. piskunovi . The male genitalia are nearly indistinguishable from those of I. falkovitshi , except for having parallel-sided,(rather than medially constricted) lateral lobes of tegumen. The female genitalia mostly resemble those of I. squamodorella , I. lvovskyi , I. sruogai and other species having oxhorn-shaped anterolateral sclerites, but can be recognized by the shape of the posterior sclerite, which has posterior margin straight whereas anterior margin bears triangular medial emargination that is absent in the other mentioned species.

Biology. Host plant unknown. The holotype was collected on a trunk of Acer sp. ( Sapindaceae ) in orchards area of Kupjansk city. Adults fly in August.

Distribution. Eastern Ukraine.

Etymology. I. piskunovi is named after Vladimir Piskunov, Vitebsk, Belarussia, the collector of the holotype. Notes. Piskunov (1981: 691, fig. 10) figured the holotype of I. piskunovi as Teleiodes squamodorella . Further records of I. squamodorella from Kharkov region of Ukraine were based on this finding ( Lvovsky & Piskunov 1989: 553; Budashkin & Piskunov 1990: 81). Huemer and Karsholt (1999) were first who noticed the possible mistake of this identification. The above mentioned drawing of the male genitalia ( Piskunov 1981: 691, fig. 10) was made from a glycerol genitalia preparation. Later this preparation has been remounted by P. Huemer into a permanent standard genitalia slide in unrolled position: Mikr. prep. № 14768 | GU 96/630, P. Huemer.
