Diagnosis (after Faubel 1984): Prosthiostomidae with marginal eyes in varying length of the anterior margin or encircling the entire margin. Digestive system with frontally running main median intestine. Male copulatory apparatus with a pair of prostatic vesicles usually separate, arranged lateral or somewhat ventral to the ejaculatory duct; penis armed with a pointed tubular stylet.
