DESCRIPTION OF PAREMCIBACTER GEN. NOV.
Paremcibacter (Par.em.ci.bac’ter. Gr. prep. para beside; N.L. masc. n. Emcibacter a genus name; N.L. masc. n. Paremcibacter resembling the genus Emcibacter ).
Comprises Gram-negative, neutrophilic and mesophilic marine bacteria that grow under aerobic conditions. Cells are rod-shaped with sticky filaments and form pale yellow colonies. The cell wall mainly consists of fatty acids such as saturated forms with carbon number 14–16, unsaturated forms with carbon number 16–18 and hydroxyl form with carbon number 14. The sole respiratory quinone is Q-10. The DNA G+C content is around 52 mol%. The type species is Paremcibacter congregatus .
