Liolaemus sp3

This population is distributed in Cerros Cegüencoma (or Següencoma), in the area surrounding La Paz city, in Bolivia. This taxon is phenetically close to Liolaemus alticolor , but exhibits some character states that allow differentiation from this taxon. The main differences with L. alticolor are in color pattern. Ventrolateral region of L. sp3 shows irregular lines, whereas in L. alticolor these lines are absent. Throat of L. sp 3 specimens has a darker background gray than that of L. alticolor . In addition, background color of chest and belly are light brown in L. sp 3 specimens, whereas in L. alticolor it is light gray. Liolaemus sp3 has 40–42 (X=41.7; SD= 0.82) scales around midbody; 37–43 (X= 39.7; SD= 2.1) scales between occiput and hindlimbs; 67–76 (X= 72.5; SD= 3.15) ventral scales; 11–12 (X= 11.67; SD= 0.52) scales in dorsum of head (Hellmich’s Index); 6 supercilliaries; 6–7 (X= 6.2; SD= 0.41) surrounding the nasal; nasal scale always in contact with rostral, but separated from canthal by one scale; 6–9 (X= 7.2; SD= 1.2) weakly keeled temporals; auricular scales evident; 25–32 (X= 28.2; SD= 2.48) laminar and keeled neck scales; 6–7 (X= 6.6; SD= 0.53) lorilabials; subocular scale whitish; 5–6 (X= 5.9; SD= 0.38) supralabials and 4 infralabials; fourth supralabial upturned and in contact with subocular in all specimens studied; 3 precloacal pores, present only in males. Max-SVL= 51.73 (X= 47.54; SD= 2.41); head length (X= 9.9; SD= 0.35); head width (X= 7.2; SD= 0.36); trunk length (X= 24.7; SD= 2.68); humerus length (X= 3.9; SD= 0.65); tibia length (X= 5.2; SD= 0.42). Color pattern: dorsolateral stripes and vertebral line in dorsum of body and tail evident. Lateral field brown with black spots. Ventrolateral region gray with some black spots. Throat lead gray with black spots. Chest and belly light brown without spots. Dorsally, the tail shows black spots parallel to vertebral line. In some specimens those spots can merge in vertebral region. Ventral region of tail with spots parallel to body axis.
