Type species: Tenthecoris bicolor Scott, 1886:65 . Monotypic.
Diagnosis. Species reddish or yellowish, with metallic-blue or black markings. The eyes sessile and located in the back of head.
Remarks. Carvalho (1951) introduced the taxonomic history and revision of the genus, providing diagnoses and a key to the species. Species of the genus are often found in orchids, including the genera Acineta ; Aclandiae ; Caladium ; Cattleya ; Dendrobium ; Epidendrum ; Gomesa ; Laelia ; Lycaste ; Miltonia ; Oncidium ; Primavera; Rhynchostele ; Rossioglossum ( Ferreira et al. 2001; Nogueira et al. 2019A). They are considered pests, causing extensive chlorosis, leaf fall, and flower loss ( Hsiao & Sailer 1947; Wheeler 2001).
