Type species: Ambracius dufouri Stål, 1860
Diagnosis. Head strongly vertical, vertex convex, and antennal fossa located above the maxillary-mandibular suture. Pronotum shining, convex, and distinctly punctate; pronotum with lateral margin marginate or angulate; anterior margin of pronotum hoodlike extended over the base of head; hemelytron and scutellum more or less smooth; and the ostiolar peritreme with a well-developed median lobe. ( Ferreira 2000).
Remarks. Ferreira & Henry (2010) published a review of the genus Ambracius Stål, 1860 , describing and illustrating three new species, diagnosising and redescribing of six species, with a key to the species.
