Plantas frecuentemente con aspecto herbáceo, o leñosas, decumbentes y radicantes, con tallos holótricos, alelótricos o goniótricos. Hojas planas, generalmente glabras y ciliadas en la base, con nerviación lateral ± marcada. Inflorescencia capituliforme o espiciforme. Brácteas generalmente similares las hojas. Cáliz con los 3 dientes superiores ± iguales.
