Distribution: Endemic to Greece: Western Greece (IO).

Type material: Holotype: female 9.8 mm (no 2; voucher NB995), Lake Lysimachia , Padanassa, Agrinio, Hellas, 38.5611N– 21.3694E, 24.04.2004, (leg. C. Fišer & R. Verovnik) GoogleMaps . Paratype: male 10.6 mm (no 1; voucher NC001), data same as for holotype, (leg. C. Fišer & R. Verovnik) GoogleMaps . Holotype and paratype are deposited in DBUL .

Remarks: This species was found near the lakeshore of Lysimachia and Trichonida. It belongs to the N. longicaudatus Costa, 1851 species complex. Recently, Karaman G.S. (2018b) questioned the validity of this species. He compared the topotypic specimens with N. graecus and found no substantial differences between the two (sample S-7335 from Lake Lisimachia, Klisovremata, Agrinio [central part of Greece], 24.04.2004, 4 exp. [leg. Fišer & Verovnik]). In this checklist we treat both species as valid, as N. graecus has not been sequenced and its taxonomic status was not checked by molecular methods. Cryptic species within N. longicaudatus complex are common ( Eme et al. 2018) and some genetic differentiation cannot be ruled out.

Etymology: The species (pronounced as etolósi) is named in honor of the ancient King Aitolos, of the region of Aitolia.
