Literature records. Sassari prov.: Golfo Aranci ( Zoia & Latella 2006); Cossoine, Grotta Sa Ucca ‘e Mammuscone (180 Sa/SS) ( Giachino et al. 2006; Zoia & Latella 2006).
Distribution. The species, treated in the wider sense of Perreau (2000), is spread in North America, Europe and Asia. In Italy the species, with the subspecies watsoni , is spread in the whole mainland and in Sicily. It normally lives in the most superficial layers of the litter and at the entrance of caves.
Chorotype. Holarctic.
